Many of my previous clients have had question(s) regarding the locksmith service and or product, which they were in need of. I've taken those questions and composed them into an easy to follow Q & A format.

Q: What are the services that locksmiths offer?

A: Here's a list of the general services many Professional locksmiths provide. Keys Duplication, Keys Replacement, Locks Changes, Locks Installations, Lock Replacement, Deadbolts, Window Locks, Car lockouts, Residential and Commercial lockouts, Safes, Keypad, Mechanical or Electronic Access Systems. Obviously every locksmith companies services will vary, however these are the most common services offered.

Q: I found and purchased a lock for eight dollars at a home improvement store. Why are you charging me forty dollars for the same lock?

A: To be a successful in any market, one needs vast amounts of knowledge regarding that market, so in the midst of thinking that a locksmith is trying to take advantage of you by charging you more than the retail price for the lock, keep in mind that it's not only the lock itself that you're paying for, you're also paying for the extensive knowledge as well as the overall SERVICE which the locksmith provides you with in order to complete the job in its entirety. Where as the home improvement stores business objective is to sell only. They do not have extensive knowledge about the product, or any potential deficiencies it may have, they may not even know the locks proper method of installation. Any questions or concerns you may have about your lock, will in most cases be answered from the locksmith rather than the home improvement store where you originally purchased the lock.

Q: I have three different locks on my house with three different keys. I would like them changed and keyed alike. Is that possible?

A: Yes. A professional locksmith is capable of keying locks alike if the locks are of the same manufacturer's brand. If they aren't of the same brand, there is a possibility that they may still be keyed alike if a key blank can be found that will enter into all the locks. It is not the best way to accomplish the task, but it will sometimes work. The proper way is to replace the one or two locks that are not the same and then use the original manufacturer's key blanks in the lock.

Q: I have an old skeleton key lock. I would like to get the locks changed. Is this something that you can do?

A: No, due to the fact that many the old skeleton keys aren't, for the most part, rekeyable. In this case a locksmith could recommend an auxiliary lock that would give you the protection you seek, and when the need might arise, the lock could be easily rekeyed.
